New puppy checklist

  • Do your research first! Take time to find out which breed of puppy is right for you. You may find out that the dog you always thought you wanted isn’t really what you wanted.

  • Decide if adoption is right for you. Is it better to adopt an older dog that is already trained or is a younger dog right for you?  Check with your local animal shelters and rescue groups.  The right dog could be there waiting for you!

  • Find out what your new puppy has been eating. It is always best not to switch to a new food right away as this should be done over a period of time.

  • Contact your local Vet for a puppy checkup.  Regular vet checkups will help your new puppy stay healthy.

  • Make sure to get a license for your puppy when he is old enough.  Every state has different requirements.

  • Make sure your puppy gets exercise daily!  Exercise will keep your puppy happy and healthy both mentally and physically.

Puppy tip of the month

 Puppy-proof your home!

Danger can be lurking in any part of your home like the garage, bathroom or kitchen.  Even the most innocent looking item such as socks can be deadly to a puppy if eaten.

  1. Anti-freeze, even in small amounts can be deadly.
  2. Identify all of the poisonous plants in your home and yard.
  3. Conceal all electrical cords.
